Short & Sweet
Always having been a city girl, I was born in Mexico City, Mexico and raised in Queens, New York. From a young age, I was drawn to the arts. As a child, I would trace letters on the sidewalks that people often engraved on the pavement while it was still wet.
In 2001, I moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin and fell in love with the art of print production. After learning to work an offset press, I found myself wanting to know more about the aspects of this fine art. Eventually, I mastered the skills of book binding, silk screening, and Illustrator 8. By 2005, I was attending the Fashion Institute of Technology as a Communication Design major and graduated four years later with a BFA in Graphic Design.
After college, I attended Milwaukee Area Technical College and received my degree in Web Design. I currently attend the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design where I continue my education studying film and figure drawing.
Traveling abroad, most recently to Mexico, has created a bridge of cultures among my work and has enticed my need for exploration and artistic expression.
I have been freelancing under my name since 2008, mostly for non-profit organizations and small businesses. In the past, I have worked with Morning Breath Inc., which is a design studio in Dumbo, Brooklyn dedicated to music packaging and other urban commodities.
Most recently, while continuing to freelance, I held the position of Interactive Designer for the Kohler Co. and several of their sub-businesses over the course of a year.
Present Day
Today, I travel to other countries seeking inspiration and never go without my watercolor sketchbook. In keeping my culture alive and sustaining my roots, I am a dancer and performer for the Ballet Folklorico Mexico Hermanos Avila in Milwaukee, where I currently reside. During my free time, I involve myself in the community by participating in outreach and utilize creative media to engage and communicate messages to my audience.
